I need to erase my passport Ultra but nowhere does it give a tab or function to do so.so how can I erase it. It is full and I am unable to use it. I uninstalled it but it now wont work at all.

I just received one of those WD Passport Ultra external hard drives that's got their 'WD Unlocker' encryption partition built in. What I want to do is completely re-partition and reformat the whole hard drive and get rid of WD's proprietary software and encryption stuff.I tried using GParted from my Fedora Linux system, but when I try to create a new volume it says I need to create a new partition table. Just to follow up, I followed the instructions linked in michaelk's post, and they didn't work on the Windows machine I got access to. However, I then downloaded and installed the 'WD Drive Utilities' crapware from their site, and used its 'erase drive' function. This disabled the locking mechanism so it doesn't show up anymore, and I have an.almost. full sized external and unencrypted hard drive. The actual locking crapware is still taking up a tiny bit of space and I still don't know how to remove it, but at least it is hidden, doesn't get mounted, and isn't interfering with me using the drive without encryption.So, a warning to others: AVOID WD external hard drives with the 'WD Unlocker' crapware unless you really want it!And thanks again for your responsese.
